Hells Angels Appear To Be Selling E. 3rd Street Clubhouse: Report
A December document signals the Hells Angels could be leaving their East Village digs.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — The Hells Angels might be moving out this spring, EV Grieve reported Friday.
The Hells Angels have been in their East Village clubhouse since the 70s, but a Memorandum of Contract between the Church Angels and 77 East 3rd Street LLC was dated in December, signaling a sale, EV Grieve reported.
Bartley J. Dowling, the president of the NYC Hells Angel chapter, and apparent buyer Nathan Blatter of Whitestone Realty Group signed the memo, according to EV Grieve.

The club has been at 77 E. 3rd St. for 50 years.
The New York chapter eventually bought the building in 1977. One report said the purchase was for $1,900, but the deed in public records shows the building was purchased for 10 bucks.

Then-president Sandy Alexander changed the deed in the 1980s to allow him and his family to live rent-free, according to a 2013 report in the New York Post. The Hells Angels sued Alexander's family members who survived him after he died in 2007 to prevent his second wife and daughter from trying to acquire the property.
The deed was reversed in 2018, EV Grieve reported.
The Hells Angels clubhouse is implicated in a few recent scuffles near their East Village clubhouse between First and Second Aves.
Late last year, a 22-year-old delivery man parked in front of the motorcycle club and was assaulted by two men.
In 2016, a Hells Angel member, police told the Post at the time, shot a man for moving a cone, which is set up by the club to block off its parking spots for their bikes. Days later, 30 cops stormed the clubhouse, reportedly for not cooperating with police on the investigation.
An inquiry sent to an email listed on the Hells Angels website was not immediately returned for comment.
