Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade Returns For Its 36th Year

NEW YORK CITY — The 36th Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade returns next month.

The parade will return Saturday, Oct. 17, bringing thousands of New Yorkers and their costumed dogs to the East Village for one of the city’s longstanding Halloween traditions.

Led by New York Dog Parade and presented by Kismet, the event will feature a public festival block with photo opportunities, giveaways, rescue initiatives and other activities.

Costumed dogs will also receive Kismet “Nugs” during the celebration.

In recognition of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, New York Dog Parade is partnering with the ASPCA and Animal Care Centers of NYC to spotlight adoptable dogs throughout October and celebrate rescue dogs participating in the parade.

Registration to march opens Sept. 25 at noon at NYDogParade.org.

Spots are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited capacity inside Tompkins Square Park, the Costume Competition will be restricted to select registered participants.

This year, the competition will also be available to watch live, with additional details on judges, programming, the route and spectator information to be announced.
