2 Injured In 3-Car Collision Involving Asphalt Truck: Police
Traffic was diverted as officials cleaned the asphalt that spilled onto the road, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Two people were injured after a three-car collision involving an asphalt truck in East Hampton Wednesday morning, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police Sgt. Joe Kearney, the accident, which took place at approximately 9:30 a.m., involved three vehicles.
The asphalt truck was making a left onto Spring Close Highway when it was rear-ended by another vehicle; the impact sent the truck carrying the asphalt into the westbound lane, where it struck a state vehicle head-on, Kearney said.

Two people were transported to Southampton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Kearney said.
The asphalt spilled onto the roadway and, as of 10:50, cleanup was still ongoing; three tow trucks were onsite to remove the vehicles from the scene, he said.

As of 9:40 a.m., New York State Route 27 was closed from Abrahams Path to Middle Lane as cleanup of the accident scene commenced; westbound traffic was diverted at Skimhampton Road and eastbound was diverted at Cross Highway by Bostwick's Chowder House, police said.
The cleanup was expected to last approximately 11:30 a.m., police said.
