Man Arrested After Letting 50 Minors Drink At His Home: Cops

AMAGANSETT, NY — An Amagansett homeowner was arrested after he allowed approximately 50 minors to consume alcohol at his residence, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Arthur W. Bijur, 62, was arrested on May 14 at 12:55 a.m. and charged with allowing consumption of alcohol by minors at private residence, prohibited, a misdemeanor.

Bijur "knowingly" allowed the consumption of alcohol by minors and failed to take "reasonable corrective action" upon learning of the alcohol consumption; he allowed "approximately 50 minors to consume alcoholic beverages in his home," police said.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
