• NextEra Closes Battery Storage Facilities (easthamptonstar.com) — Battery storage facilities in East Hampton and Montauk have been temporarily shut down after the East Hampton Town Board authorized legal action and funding to force a closure over chemical contamination concerns. Local and county officials pushed NextEra to halt operations while it manages Novec 1230, linked by state regulators to drinking water well contamination after a 2023 fire.
   

• Hamptons Subway Launches Petite Film Noir Festival (danspapers.com) — East Hampton subway riders can catch classic film noir double features right on the local platform during Hamptons International Film Festival weekend, complete with free popcorn and 1930s flair. Expect darker platforms, folding chairs and heavier crowds, so riders are urged to move quickly when boarding and exiting trains to help keep the system on time.
   

• Noles Head North for Hamptons Intercollegiate (seminoles.com) — A major collegiate golf field is descending on East Hampton's Maidstone Club October 5–6 for the Hamptons Intercollegiate, bringing nationally ranked programs and top prospects to local fairways. Residents can expect two busy days of high-level play as Florida State and other ranked teams compete over 54 holes with live scoring available online.
