Is your pumpkin's grin getting ghoulish?
Give it a second life instead of a trip to the trash.
Bring your pumpkins and gourds to East Hampton Town Hall, and they’ll be reborn as rich, healthy compost. It’s free and it keeps your jack-o’-lantern from a sad end.
The drop-off is hosted by East Hampton Compost, a collaboration between ReWild Long Island and the Town of East Hampton, as part of the Long Island Pumpkin Pick Up with Long Island Organics Initiative, Maggio Environmental, and Long Island Compost.
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14–15, 8 am to 5 pm
East Hampton Town Hall • 159 Pantigo Road • parking log
Naked pumpkins and gourds only.
Please, no paint, glue, glitter, glass or wax.
“After Halloween, a lot of jack-o’-lanterns end up in the trash, and hauling that trash off the East End costs all of us,” said East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez. “Composting costs less and gives something back to our soil. Through East Hampton Compost, our partnership with ReWild Long Island, we’re glad to join Long Island Organics Initiative, Maggio Environmental, and Long Island Compost to bring the Pumpkin Pick Up here. So bring your pumpkins, and let’s turn them into compost that feeds gardens next season.”
