Sag Harbor Cinema’s Lighthouse Project: Veteran Mental Health
FREE | Advance Registration Required
Join Sag Harbor Cinema for a free community program on veteran mental health, exploring the lasting psychological impact of military service and the importance of community support for veterans and their families.
The program begins at 11:00 AM with a screening of Debra Granik’s LEAVE NO TRACE (2018), a drama about an Iraq War veteran living with PTSD whose secluded life with his teenage daughter is disrupted when they must return to society.
At 1:30 PM, a panel discussion will build on the film's themes to consider the mental health challenges veterans face. Featured Panelists are:
· Benjamin Fischer — U.S. Army Veteran (Iraq); Resiliency Trainer, Brothers at War and Brothers After War
· Desiree Romaguera, PsyD — Director, Unified Behavioral Health Center for Military Veterans and Their Families, Northwell Health
· James “Jimbo” Theinert (Moderator) — President and Facilitator, Strongpoint Theinert Ranch; Gold Star Brother
The panel will also include BEARING WITNESS (2026), a locally produced short documentary featuring veterans reflecting on their experiences at a Strongpoint Theinert Ranch retreat.
Guests may attend the screening and discussion or the discussion only. Light bites and refreshments will be served during the discussion.
