East Hampton Landlord Given Five Years Probation For Installing Cameras In Rental Home
Donald Torr had seven cameras placed in the bathroom, bedrooms and hallways to record activity in his rental home at 18 Winterberry Lane.

An East Hampton landlord was sentenced to five years probation on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of unlawful surveillance and other crimes in a 23-count indictment, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Donald Torr, 71, had seven cameras placed in the bedrooms, bathroom and hallways to record activity in his rental home at 18 Winterberry Lane in East Hampton. The investigation found the cameras were connected to a digital video recorder in the basement of the house. The DVR was connected to a router and modem that provided remote viewing access.
Torr pleaded guilty to 14 counts of unlawful surveillance in the second degree, for which Judge Barbara Kahn sentenced him to five years probation. For his guilty plea to nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Kahn sentenced Torr to three years of probation to run concurrently.
