Hunters For Deer Seeking Sector Managers

The non-profit is seeking area mangers to manage select locales that the organization will be seeking to offer its Deer Management Program.

The non-profit organization, Hunters For Deer (HFD) is seeking “sector” or “area” managers to manage select locales that HFD will be seeking to offer its Deer Management Program (DMP).

Each sector manager will be responsible for identifying properties, nurturing the homeowner relationships, placing members on spots through the HFD lottery system and handling and issues that come up within the sector.

The organization’s executive board, committees and membership will be available to the sector managers to handle such tasks. The task of the manager is to work within HFD’s model, but to utilize his/her own judgment in how to manage the program within such model.

The sector manager will be assigned per territory, (i.e: Remsenburg/Speonk, Westhampton-Quiogue, etc.). The managers will be appointed by the HFD’s board.

The organization was formed in 2014 to demonstrate the capability of Long Island Hunters to manage their own deer population in an effective and responsible manner.

HFD is a conservationist organization seeking to effect the optimal deer population (healthy - non-nuisance) for local environs.

The Remsenburg Project is the organization’s template for effectuating HFD’s goals on a larger level. HFD takes proactive steps to ensure that the program is staffed with “professional” level members.

Specifically, each member of HFD’s “Need a Hunter” program is vested into the program by way of the following:

  • Each member is a Premium paid member of HFD ($100), thus vesting their interest.
  • Each member executes a “Code of Conduct” pledge, thus committing themselves to HFD’s ethos.
  • Each member executes a homeowners indemnity waiver, which is an additional protection to the General Obligations Law, which indemnifies homeowners.
  • Each member is ensured by HFD’s insurance premium, as is the homeowner.
