This year Bay Street Theater will present "The Scarlet Letter" to the 27 school groups.

"'Literature Live!" brings the power of the word from the page to the stage. Using Common Core curriculum-based literature, Bay Street Theater creates a unique learning experience by bringing professional theater artists together to present first class productions," a release said.

Private donors have agreed to match all donations up to $50,000 to keep the program free for students.

This year's performance of "The Scarlet Letter", by Nathaniel Hawthorne, will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and from Thursday to Saturday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving weekend.
