Man Charged With Boating While Intoxicated: Police
The man was operating his vessel at more than 5 miles per hour in a no wake zone, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Massachusetts man was charged with boating while intoxicated in East Hampton, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Gary Joseph Savard, 62, was arrested on July 15 at 7:34 p.m. at Three Mile Harbor and charged with operating a vessel while intoxicated, first or second offense, a misdemeanor, reckless operation of a vessel, unreasonably endanger person/vessel, a misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent or more alcohol, first or second offense, a misdemeanor.
Savard was operating a 1989 Boston Whaler powerboat in Three Mile Harbor; he was operating at a speed greater than 5 miles per hour in a regulated no wake zone, police said.

Upon contacting Savard, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and slurred speech, and he performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests, police said.
Cash bail was set at $250, police said.
