Man Charged With Stealing $30K+ From East Hampton Store: Police

He was arrested and charged in relations to the robbery of a cell phone store Wednesday, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A man who robbed more than $30,000 from an East Hampton cell phone store Wednesday has been arrested, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Shane S. Filasky, 47, of East Hampton, was arrested Friday at 3:50 a.m. in connection with a robbery at Montoya Communications on Springs Fireplace Road, where he stole $30,800, police said.

He was taken into custody following his arrest and release by Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers, where he had been charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration, police said.

Filasky was subsequently charged by East Hampton Town Police Department detectives with one count of second-degree robbery and was held for arraignment in East Hampton Town Justice Court.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the incident took place at 5 p.m. Wednesday when Filasky, reportedly wearing a ski mask, entered the store and demanded cash from a clerk while displaying what appeared to be a weapon, police said.

He made off with cash and fled north on Old Fireplace Road in a light-gray-colored pickup truck, police said.
