Officer Hit In Chest After Drunk Driver Tries To Flee: Police
The man pulled into a residential driveway after driving drunk and tried to flee, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested after he pushed and hit a police officer after driving drunk and trying to flee authorities, East Hampton Town Police said.
According to police, Andy Michael Sanchez-Jaramillo, 34, was arrested on Feb. 17 at 10:18 p.m. on Crystal Drive in East Hampton after he pushed a police officer with his left arm, striking him in the chest.
He was charged with second degree harassment, physical contact, a violation, police said.

He was also charged with first degree unlicensed operation, committing aggravated unlicensed operation 2/alcohol or drugs, a felony, as well as driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
Sanchez-Jaramillio was driving a gray 2015 Hyundai north on Three Mile Harbor Road on Feb. 17 at 10:18 p.m. when he failed to maintain his lane of travel multiple times, crossing over the solid yellow line separating the south and northbound lanes of travel, as well as driving across the solid white line that separates the northbound lane from the northbound shoulder, police said.

Next, Sanchez-Jaramillio pulled into a residential driveway, exited the vehicle while leaving it in drive, and attempted to flee on foot, police said.
Upon contact, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and slurred speech; he was also unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.
He was remanded into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, police said.
