Serve Yourself Right At Tomorrow's "Souper Tuesday" Cook Off

Gazpacho cook off to benefit the Peconic Land Trust

The Peconic Land Trust and the Amagansett Farmers Market are partnering again this August for β€œSouper Tuesday”, a cold gazpacho cook off taking place tomorrow, Aug. 13.

In years past, pairs chosen from local cooks and farmer’s markets would be given one Tuesday each to show off their creation, but this year, all the teams are being brought together at Amagansett Farmers Market, 367 Main Street, from 6- 8 p.m.Β

β€œWe thought we’d create a little friendly, fun competition, a one day event that shows a wide range of different farms as opposed to breaking it up throughout the whole month,” Yvette DeBow, Director of Marketing & Communications for the PeconicΒ LandΒ Trust said. β€œAlso, it’s cool and refreshing to do gazpacho. It’s a fun summer type of soup, so many different ways to try and make it. It really highlights the produce of summer.”

Amagansett Sea Salt will provide a finishing salt station.

β€œWe think this is a great opportunity for people to come to gether to see a wide variety of farms that are producing out here,” DeBow said,Β  β€œIncluding a lot that are renting land from the Peconic Land Trust. Gives people a chance to meet the farmers, try the produce and come together for great conversation and great food.”

On top of the gazpacho, Souper Tuesday will feature live music by Escola de Samba Boom, and a local wine tasting provided by Michael Cinque of Amagansett Wine & Spirits. Laura Donnelley, food writer from the East Hampton Star, will serve as the evening’s emcee.Β

Admission is $10 if you bring your own bowl, or $12 if one needs to be provided for you. A portion of the proceeds raised will go toward the Peconic Land Trust.
