Talented Local Musician Dies at 39

Thomas Kravitz-Hear was raised in Montauk before playing with Outkast and Soulja Boy.

Thomas Andrew Kravitz-Hear, 39, a former resident of Montauk, passed away suddenly of unknown causes in Las Vegas on Feb. 9.

Born on Aug. 23, 1972 in Nashville, Tennessee and raised out in Montauk, he resided with his mother Lorie Dougherty-Hear. At a young age, he took an interest to music like no other. Watching his mother sing and play the guitar, it was in his blood to compose and perform. He performed for the first time when he illegally snuck into an open mic night at a bar when he was under age-completely getting hired on the spot.

Since those days of innocence lost, Kravitz-Hear has performed with all different artists and genre's, both in the studio and on stage. Shortly after graduating from East Hampton High School in 1991, he left Montauk to pursue his career in music. He became a permanent resident of Atlanta, GA in 1996 where he then attended the Atlanta Institute of Music and expanded his friendships and fan base immensely. He played back up music for Soulja Boy and Outkast.

His passions for music lead him on many extraordinary adventures. He worked for beautyandspeed.com as a “Videographer & Personality of the group." To quote their website, “Tommy H is the videographer and personality of the team. He can make any girl feel like a million dollars and will get you up and moving no matter what mood you are in. He is one of a kind and an Atlanta local celeb."

As well as working as a videographer he also worked with Leigon Marvin Gore, the founder and CEO of StrawberryHunnies, an elite modeling agency with both executive and exotic female models as an Executive Model Coordinator and Mansion Director.

Many people would say that Kravitz-Hear was the life of the party, he loved comedy and doing impressions and there was never a moment where a smile wasn’t on his face. In 2011, he moved out to Las Vegas to expand his music horizons.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Thomas and Alice Dougherty and is survived by his mother Lorie Dougherty- Hear, currently in Montana, his aunt Hope Herrlin and his two cousins Brittany Alvarado and Mallory Herrlin, residents of East Hampton.

At this time funeral and memorial arrangements are still pending. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nana Cares Inc., The Kattie O. Berkoski Foundation at 81 Newtown Lane Suite 303, East Hampton, 11937.
