The Arts Against Addiction Fundraiser is taking place on Thursday July 24th at Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton. The proceeds from the show will benefit the QTherapy Institute (http://www.qtherapy.co), an online counseling center. The fundraiser was created as a way to provide treatment scholarships to individuals suffering from substance addiction who need highly personalized counseling, but can’t afford it. The counseling is done online through Skype or over the phone. Additional funds will be allocated for a new East Hampton non-profit that provides young artists with materials and supplies.
Spero Alexio, the founder of Arts Against Addiction and QTherapy, claims “I regularly get calls from families and individuals who have lost all hope. I do inventive, non-traditional treatments for people who don’t respond well to rehabs and 12 step programs. Every client requires a unique approach based on who they are, not based on being an addict.”

The show costs $32 per ticket, and will feature food, beverages, live performances, a silent art auction with pieces by over 40 featured artists and a raffle of various “curious” items. Music from DJ John Lockwood and The Dick Johansson Band will be among top performers, as well as a live comic ranting by Peter Elfant, who will play his alter-ego Preston Pepper and perform a set on addiction.
