Update: Police Identify People Hospitalized After Driver Crashes into Bagel Shop

The incident occurred last Thursday.

The two people hospitalized after an accident where the driver crashed into the wall of Goldberg’s Famous Bagel Shop on 100 Pantigo Place last Thursday have been identified by police.

Anthony Rispoli, 88, was attempting to park his car in the parking lot when he confused the brake with the accelerator and drove into the building, according to the East Hampton Town Police report.

Both Anthony and his passenger, Christine Rispoli, 87, were sent to Southampton Hospital after reporting chest pains from the airbag deployment, according to the report. Anthony also had minor lacerations.

Two elderly people were hospitalized after an SUV driver drove too far forward in his parking space and hit the brick wall of Goldberg’s Famous Bagel shop located on 100 Pantigo Place on Thursday morning, according to a report in 27east.

Paramedics from Amagansett and East Hampton Village Departments were inside the bagel store eating at the time of the accident and immediately responded, according to the report.

The building was not severely damaged other than ‘minor cracking’ in the masonry, according to the report. The driver and the passenger were taken to Southampton Hospital as a precaution, but the extent of their injuries has not been reported.
