Volunteers Invited To Clean Up Beaches For International Coastal Cleanup Day

Participants can pick up trash bags and gloves for the event on Sept. 20 at East Hampton Town Hall.

The East Hampton Town Recycling and Litter Committee announces its participation in the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, Sept. 20.

The program asks volunteers to clean up and report the types of trash found on the beaches. This information will help the Conservancy collect and analyze data that will raise awareness, identify debris hotspots or unusual trash events and can help communities adopt policies that will work towards cleaner oceans.

The Town of East Hampton will supply trash bags and disposable gloves for the event. They will be available for pick up at Town Hall in the Town Board office during Town Hall hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers can also pick up a Data Collection Form to record the types of debris you find. Scan and submit your completed form to cleanup@oceanconservancy.org .
