Voters Green Light New Natural Grass Field at Pierson
BREAKING: The proposition passed by a wide margin.

SAG HARBOR, NY — Residents in the Sag Harbor School District voted to green light the reallocation of $1,450,584 in funding for construction of new natural grass field at Pierson Middle/High School on Wednesday, according to a release from the district.
The cost includes related site work and equipment and the construction of an additional practice field and other recreational and site improvements at Sag Harbor Elementary School.
With a total of 531 votes, the proposition passed by a vote of 458 "yes" votes to 73 "no" votes, the release said.

“We have a very active and supportive community for which all of us within the Sag Harbor Schools are grateful,” said Superintendent of Schools Katy Graves. “On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, we want to thank them for their approval of the proposition.”
Construction of new natural grass field and site work at Pierson Middle/High School could start as early as the summer of 2017. Related site work and equipment and construction of an additional practice field at the elementary school would commence in the summer of 2018, district officials said.

In December, the public voted by a wide margin to reject additional funding for a proposed synthetic turf field at Pierson Middle/High School.
A final tally of votes for that project indicated that the Sag Harbor Union Free School District's capital reserve proposition was rejected 1016 to 135.
