#83- A Quick Date or Two in East Meadow

Let’s be serious-first dates, and even some second dates-are undeniably awkward. If the connection just isn’t there, you’re trapped at a table with soft candlelight glowing, wine flowing and not a word to say. We all know the old “have a friend phone you with a fake emergency” scheme by now, so that one will have to stay sealed in the bag of tricks for awhile.

How then, does one go about finding a partner to spend those beautiful beach days and warm summer nights with?

Well, on June 11, head over to on Hempstead Turnpike for their speed dating event. In the two hours from 7-9pm, you’ll have the potential for 15 brief dates. To participate in this particular event, males must be between the ages of 35 and 45, and females must be between 32 44. The admission cost is $35.75. By attending the event, you’ll not only expose yourself to a variety of local singles, but fate might just swoop in to take a role as well. According to the event listing on Life on Long Island, the group was voted the best on Long Island in 2010, and has been responsible for over 40 engagements and 30 marriages.

Even if the greatest love of your life doesn’t walk through the doors that night, perhaps a new friend or two will come your way. For those lucky individuals who have an immediate connection with one another, spend some time together at R.C. Dugans once the event is over for the evening.
