Three years after heart surgery, an East Meadow Senior participated in the Senior Softball All-Star Game.

Stepnowski, 68,  took part in the first annual  “Cardio vs Ortho” all star game sponsored by the community. The game featured players over the age of 70 who underwent heart related surgeries against those whose lives were improved following orthopedic operations such as knee or hip replacements.

Stepnowski was joined Vinnie Valenti, 78, who underwent bypass surgery in 2008. Dr. Scott Schubach, chairman of the department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Center at Winthrop-University Hospital stopped in to check out the action.
