
The Eisenhower Park based Nassau County Aquatic Center will be holding spring session classes for lifeguard instruction, land exercise, swim lessons, and fitness at the East Meadow facility. Registration for the classes begins on February 13 at 8 a.m. A Leisure Pass is required at the time of registration and sign up is on a first come, first serve basis. Payment is due at the time of registration in full.
The following is a list of classes offered and respective descriptions, provided to Patch courtesy of Nassau County:
- Swim Lessons: Swim lessons will be offered for all levels: Infant/toddler for ages 6-36 months, Swim with Me for ages 3-4, Preschool Levels 1 through 3 for children ages 3-5 years, Levels 1-6 for children 6 and over, and Teen/Adult Beginner and Intermediate. Classes are held Mondays through Sundays for 10 straight weeks, beginning the first week in March. Fee is $55 for 10 weeks.
- Lifeguard Training: There are three Lifeguard Training Classes, held on Mondays and Thursdays from March to May and a five day class held the week of April 9-13. Fee is $250 per person, which includes class, book and materials. Pretest requirements apply and will be held the first day of class. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.
- Aquatic Fitness: Aquatic fitness classes are held Monday through Friday, with specific concentrations assigned to each time slot. The class offerings include Adult Fit Swim, Aquajog and Aquaerobics. The classes begin the first week in March and continue for 10 straight weeks. Fee is $55 per person.
- Land Exercise: Land Exercise Classes are held each day of the week, with a varied schedule throughout the day and specific concentrations assigned to each time slot. The class offerings include Pilates, Spin-lates, Relaxing Core & Stretch, Tai Chi, Healthy Back, Senior Power, Yoga, Half Hour of Power, Spinning, Total Body Express Circuit, Ultimate Core & Stretch, Yin Yoga, Awesome Body Workout, Killer Kettlebells, Speed & Agility, Zumba, Extreme Conditioning, and Triathlon Training. Classes begin the first week in March and continue for 10 straight weeks. Fees vary.
