Aquarius Card and Stationary to Remain in Business

While there was recent uncertainly about the future of the local establishment, adjustments were made with the lease.

Despite rumors circulating throughout East Meadow that was set to close, the local establishment is not going anywhere.

“We recently made some adjustments with the lease,” Owner Marcia Krinick said. “We will be staying in business.”

Krinick’s business has been around for 42 years in the same location at 1918 Hempstead Tpke. For Walter Skinner, the president of East Meadow’s Chamber of Commerce, it’s “great to hear the good news about Aquarius.”

“She works very hard,” Skinner said. “She’s been here forever, and it’s great to hear that she will be able to stay.”

The uncertainty of the business’ future was discussed at a recent Council of East Meadow Civic Associations (CEMCO) meeting, but since then, Krinick and her landlord were able to find a common ground.

“It’s not easy right now,” Krinick said. “With the economy the way it is, people are being very careful about how they spend their money.”

In an effort to drive up business, Krinick has a Black Friday special in which everything in the store was 20 percent off. She said that there are always new sales to keep the customers coming back.

“I have to be creative,” Krinick said. “People want to get the best for what they spend, and I try to provide that.”
