Bringing Laughter to Temple Emanu-El

It was a rocking atmosphere at on Saturday night. About 80 people showed up to watch comedians Tim Krompier and Carole Montgomery perform their acts on stage. Also featured was a local band, The Coffee House Boys.

The event was put together by Merri Quinonez, who heads fundraising efforts for the Temple.

"We charge each person $25 for 3 hours of music and comedy," Quinonez said. "It all goes to the Sisterhood/Men's Club fund." The show began at 7 p.m. and ran until 10 p.m.

The 38-year-old Krompier was first on stage. He joked about a variety of topics ranging from life with his newborn child to his nagging mother-in-law.

"I thought he was very funny particularly with his wife's and mother-in-law impersonations," said Anna Cohen, an East Meadow resident. "He had their reactions down very well."

Other residents were definitely happy with Krompier's performance as well.

"I liked his humor a lot," said Evan Abraham of Merrick. "I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but I'm glad I came here tonight. It was worth the trip."

Carole Montgomery was next on stage. Her humor was geared more to the older women, joking about such things as menopause and dealing with teenage kids.

"Her jokes were really very funny," said Arlene of East Meadow. "She was very polished in her delivery and I really could relate to her humor."

For others, the jokes touched really close to home.

"I definitely related to her with the kids and the husband stuff," said Anne Pulen. "She was so funny in her descriptions."

People left the event in high spirits as laughter was contagious on Saturday night.
