Clarke Baseball Completes Undefeated Season
Dominant performances have been a signature of the Rams' season.

The baseball team have achieved a very rare feat, as they went the entire 2012 regular season without enduring a single defeat.
Not only has Clarke (18-0-1, 16-0-1) been winning, they have been defeating opponents by a large margin. In the last three games alone, the Rams outscored Mineola 36-4.
"Defensively, we’re just stacked," Senior Pitcher Chris Appell, who's secured plenty of Clarke's wins on the mound, said. "We have a lot of kids that came back from last year. They know what to do. They’re not questioning themselves."

Clarke is trying to rebound from a disappointing end to their 2011 season when they lost two straight games and were eliminated in shocking fashion. Appell said the focus remains on a "one game at a time" mentality.
The Rams have a strong core that returned from last season, as Appell, along with Joe Fusco and Joe Calabrese, have lead the way for Clarke. They have gotten contributions throughout the lineup, and Appell said they remain confident as they prepare for their first round match-up against Island Trees.

"I think we have a bunch of potential," Appell said. "I don’t think anyone can beat us except for ourselves."
In the lone match-up between the two teams on April 3, Clarke prevailed with a 2-0 win against Island Trees. Joe Fusco led the way on offense with a two-run double, and Appell struck out 10 in a complete game shutout. The winner of Saturday's game will receive a bye until the third round, while the loser will get one more chance at redemption on Monday.
