Couple Attacked Security Guard While Robbing Nassau Store

Police say they swung a knife at the guard in order to steal more than $1,700 worth of electronics.

WESTBURY, NY — Nassau County police are looking for a man and woman who they say attacked a security guard with a knife while they were stealing from a Best Buy on Wednesday.

According to police, at 12:19 p.m. on Wednesday, a man and woman were in the Best Buy at 1100 Old Country Road in Westbury when they tried to steal a laptop computer and camera equipment worth more than $1,700.

As the two were trying to leave, police say they were approached by a 32-year-old man who worked at the store as a security officer. The man swung a knife at the security officer, and the two thieves fled. They were seen getting into a blue or gray GMC Yukon and heading west on Old Country Road.

No one was injured.

The man was black, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 30 to 40 years old, wearing a black Marvel comics-themed T-shirt. The woman was also black, wearing a yellow shirt, pink floral pattern pants and a headwrap.

Police ask anyone with information about this theft to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
