DreamCatcher Entertainment Comes to East Meadow
The new business is run by a longtime East Meadow teacher.
Normally, being a full-time teacher consumes most of a person’s time, but for Joe Targove, that’s certainly not the case.
Targove, who lives in Bellmore, teaches fifth grade at , and he’s worked in the East Meadow School District for 26 years. When the bell rings at the end of the day, Targove heads to at 212 East Meadow Ave., and he embraces another passion of his.
“I wanted to create a space that was low-budget enough for people to have any kind of party, whether it’s for kids or adults, that has a high-end feel,” Targove said.

First, Targove opened up shop at the smaller Party Peeps on Newbridge Road in North Bellmore, because he wasn’t sure how business was going to do in the early going.
“It just seemed to be exploding where I was booking all the time, so I decided to take the leap and go to a place this size,” Targove said of the East Meadow location.

For kids, DreamCatcher Entertainment offers a two-hour party that includes a dance teacher and Targove as the DJ. After dance lessons, Targove puts the kids in groups and helps them create their own music videos.
“With the green screen on stage in the background, we have an effect process where we can add different themes behind them,” Targove said. “They can be singing next to Justin Bieber or standing on the moon.”

Adults can rent the room out as well for a four-hour party. If the attendance is in the 70-80 people range, Targove said that he can tailor a party to fit people’s needs.
Local bands and DJ’s also have been renting out the space as well. Elizabeth Mooney, who graduated from East Meadow High School in 2001, will be holding Zumba classes at the new location as well. She will also offer personal training, and other opportunities as well.
“[Joe] approached me about renting space, and I thought it was perfect,” Mooney said. “I don’t have to teach all over the place.”
Targove, who has musical credits himself going back to the 1980’s, said that business is booming in the early going.
“We’re booked solid,” Targove said. “It’s been amazing.”
