East Meadow Avenue Construction Moves Forward
Saeed Ahmed says seven stores will be in the space formerly occupied by the Crystalbrook.
Construction at the former Crystalbrook property on East Meadow Avenue is moving forward as planned, according to Saeed Ahmed, the owner of Meadow Commons, LLC.
"It's going to be seven retail stores," Ahmed said. "There will not be any apartments."
According to Ahmed, he was approached by Council of East Meadow Civic Organizations (CEMCO) representatives about the possibility of having apartments above the stores, but he said he would only consider it if the community was in favor of it.

After many nearby residents voiced concerns against the idea, Ahmed nixed the idea.
"I stuck with the original plan," he said. "We are currently in the construction phase."

Ahmed is hoping that the property will be fully constructed in six months, but he knows that there are factors that could push the process back further.
"I am hoping to have everything finished by March or April," Ahmed said. "If we have a bad winter, that may be pushed back."
There are no potential clients for the retail stores yet, according to Ahmed, and he said that there will be signs put up in three to four months to gauge interest in the spaces.
Ahmed also owns the property across the street, and he plans to eventually develop that as well.
"The whole idea is to help spruce up East Meadow Avenue," Ahmed said. "I am hoping, when all is said and done, this will be the most beautiful property in the area."
