East Meadow Library Revamps Meeting Room
Minor renovations have made a big difference.
The has revamped and refreshed to provide a more welcoming spot for guests and special events.
According to Rocco Cassano, the library's assistant director, the downstairs meeting room underwent minor renovations throughout the last month.
"The decor was from 1984," Cassano said. "Things were beat up and the wallpaper was ripped. It needed a refresh."

Library workers performed the prep work before outside contractors came in to install new wallpaper and a new tile floor.
Cassano said the downstairs meeting room is utilized for some of the library's most important happenings, like concerts, current events discussions, classes and lectures, monthly art showcases and special family events.

"It was important to do," Cassano said. "The space is so heavily utilized, and it was just time. It's been over 20 years since it was last worked on."
The library's hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. Since the renovations were unveiled earlier this month, guests have taken note of the change.
"We've gotten great feedback," Cassano told Patch. "The first thing people ask is if we've replaced the ceiling, We haven't, but we now have a brand new, lighter tile that lights up the room."
In the coming months, the newly decorated room will play host to various special events. This Sunday, Oct. 30, Long Island psychic Daniel Ackner will take over, and a new art showcase will debut on Nov. 6. A full list of events at the library can be found on their website.
