East Meadow Residents Approve School Budget

East Meadow residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Voters in the East Meadow School District went to the polls Tuesday and approved the school budget.

The $199.7 million budget is a 1.98 percent increase over the current year's spending plan. Voters overwhelmingly approved the budget 2,123 to 532. To finance the budget, the tax levy is increasing by 1.99 percent, which is within the district's tax levy cap.

Voters also cast their ballots for Board of Education Trustees. Scott Eckers was running unopposed and received 2,268 votes. Alisa Baroukh defeated Joseph Danenza 1,761 to 780.
