East Meadow School Budget Approved

East Meadow residents approved the school district's budget in a vote Tuesday night.

The proposed $208,630,247 budget was approved 1,654 to 516. It came with a 2.14 percent tax levy increase.

There were also three open seats on the Board of Education that voters filled. Incumbent Matthew Melnick, who ran unopposed, received 1,558 votes. Newcomers Allyson Benowitz and Dr. Jodi Luce received 1,572 votes and 1,521 votes, respectively. They are replacing trustees Joseph Parisi and Marcee Rubinstein, who did not seek reelection.
