Fugitive Wanted For Murder Of 73-Year-Old Man: Nassau Police

Police say Yonel Pitaud shot Joseph Rosembert multiple times, killing him. He has not yet been caught.

UNIONDALE, NY — Nassau County police are searching for a man whom they believed shot and killed a 73-year-old in Hempstead in July.

According to police, at 4:42 a.m. on July 24, Yonel Pitaud, 50, of Tulip Court, Uniondale shot 73-year-old Joseph Rosembert multiple times in a home on Tulip Court. Rosembert was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center, where he died from his wounds.

Police say that Pitaud has not yet been found, despite being identified by police in mid-August. Nassau police say he has ties to Smyrna, Tennessee; Hampton and McDonough, Georgia; For Myers and Miami, Florida; and Haiti.

Police ask anyone with information on Pitaud's whereabouts to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-44-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
