Great Escape: Tool Time for Learning Ladies

Learn how to complete simple home repairs at the East Meadow Library.

Every time a light goes out in the house, the banister outside starts to come loose or some other domestic drama occurs, you find yourself calling to your husband, father, brother and a plethora of other males in your life. You’ve asked them to teach you their skills, but lack of patience on one end or another inevitably leads to catastrophe.

Instead of sitting through another torturous session of listening to your hunny harp on how to use a hammer, consider getting a little bit of relaxation and enjoyment out of your tool tutorials.

On March 14 at 7 p.m., the will be offering a class entitled “Girls’ Night Out: Simple Home Repair.” Get a group of your friends together or gather your mom and sisters for a course on how to fix common problems around the house. According to the library’s website, you’ll find out how to fix pesky problems such as leaky faucets and learn how to engage in tasks such as rewiring a lamp. Your super handy team of repairmen might not even know how to do that last one! Make a night out of it and head to a local restaurant after the class or gather at one of the ladies’ house for some Monday night television.

This class is not just about getting out of the house for a night in order to learn about how to give yourself more work when you are in your abode. It’s about empowerment, ladies. Whether you are an ardent feminist or not, we can all agree that the expansion of talents, hobbies and skills is beneficial to developing as a person, no matter what political views you hold.

Registration opens on March 4 at 9 a.m. at the library. The class will be held in the downstairs meeting room.
