Driver Crashes Into American Legion After Chase: Nassau PD

Police said the man fought with officers who tried to arrest him.

UNIONDALE, NY — An upstate New York man was arrested early Wednesday morning after Nassau County police said he fled a traffic stop and crashed into the Hempstead American Legion.

Bradley Bull, 37, of Cadyville, faces a host of charges.

Police said Bull was driving a 2007 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle in the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes of Jerusalem Avenue in Uniondale at 12:40 a.m. Officers tried to pull him over, but he sped off, police said. Officers then found the vehicle at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Greenwich Street in Hempstead, police said.

Bull sped away again and drove off the road, crashing through a fence and into the front of the Hempstead American Legion at 160 Marvin Ave., police said. Bull kept driving and made it to Jerusalem Avenue, where the vehicle stopped due to the damage it sustained, police said.

Bull exited the SUV, walked away and ignored commands by officers, police said. Officers arrested him following a struggle, police said. One officer injured his hand and was hospitalized, police said.

Bull was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, reckless driving and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
