Motorcyclist Dies In Crash After Running Red Light: Police

A 20-year-old man was killed in the Long Island crash Sunday morning, police say.

WESTBURY, NY – A 20-year-old man was killed in a crash between a motorcycle and a flatbed track Sunday morning in Westbury, Nassau Police said.

According to detectives, Nicholas Cartier was riding a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle west on Union Avenue when he went through a red light and crashed into a 2000 International Harvester 4700 flatbed truck that had been heading south on Grand Boulevard at 8:34 a.m.

Cartier, of East Farmingdale, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 a.m.

The 51-year-old male driver of the flatbed truck was not injured. The crash investigation is ongoing.
