Nassau Police Track Down Teens Who Stole Bicycles
Police used helicopters and dogs to find the five teens, who stole the bikes at knifepoint from another group of teens.
EAST MEADOW, NY — A group of teenagers were arrested Monday night after police say they stole the bicycles of another group of teens.
According to police, four teenage boys — ages 14, 15, 15 and 16 — were in the parking lot of 7-Eleven, located at 391 East Meadow Ave. in East Meadow, at 10:05 p.m. when they were approached by five teens wearing masks. The robbers displayed weapons and demanded the teens' bicycles, police said, and the teens gave them over. The robbers then fled the scene on the bicycles, according to police.
Officers arrived on the scene and began to search the area with helicopters and K-9 units. Police say the officers saw two of the teens at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Maple Avenue. They jumped off the bicycles and ran from the officers.

The first teen, 15, was found in the backyard of a home on Cherry Place at 10:18 p.m. and placed under arrest. The second teen, 14, was found on Prospect Avenue near Starke Avenue and arrested at 10:15 p.m. At 10:22 p.m., officers found the third teen, 15, at Peters Avenue and arrested him without incident.
Officers located the fourth teen, 18-year-old Jordan Canales-Caceres, of Clinton Street, Hempstead, at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and the Meadowbrook Parkway and arrested him at 10:38 p.m.

The fifth teen, 16, was found on Cherry Place at 10:46 p.m. with the assistance of K-9 officers.
Police say they recovered the for bicycles, as well as a steak knife, a hammer and a screwdriver.
The 14-year-old and the two 15-year-olds were each charged with first-degree robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Canales-Caceras and the 16-year-old were each charged with first-degree robbery. All five teens are scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
