1 Injured, 1 Arrested After Basketball Game Turns Violent: Police

Police say a dispute on the court led to a 17-year-old attacking another with a knife.

A Uniondale man was arrested Sunday evening and charged with assault after a basketball game turned violent.

According to police, Xavier Dickson, 17, of Front Street, was playing basketball at Eisenhower Park Filed 2 with several other teens. At some point, Dickson became irate and slashed a 17-year-old boy on the face with a folding knife, police say. Dickson tried to flee, but police say witnesses apprehended him and held him until police arrived.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he received 20 stitches to the upper left side of his face.
