The educators toured all nine school buildings, met district leaders, and began building connections with colleagues as they prepared to join the East Meadow community for the coming school year.

East Meadow Kiwanis Club helps students start school prepared (liherald.com) — East Meadow families in need will see their children start school with fully stocked backpacks, thanks to the Kiwanis Club's annual Pack a Backpack drive. Local partners like the East Meadow Fire Department and nearby businesses helped supply hundreds of items, which district social workers will quietly distribute throughout the year so students can focus on learning, not missing supplies.
   

3. High school football blog: Here come the games (newsday.com) — East Meadow football fans can catch Hicksville visiting the hometown team this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. as Long Island's high school season kicks off. The broader schedule features matchups across Nassau and Suffolk, with standout players returning from injury and plenty of early-season storylines to follow.
   

4. Student becomes the master: 17-year-old teaches personal finance to peers (longislandpress.com) — East Meadow teens and tweens have been learning money basics right at the East Meadow Public Library, where a Jericho High School senior has led free personal finance workshops. His peer-taught sessions, supported by an app and online content, aim to make topics like credit, debt and budgeting less intimidating for young people across Nassau County.
