Police: Cops Fire at East Meadow Man After He Threatens Officers With Guns
The man, who was not hit by the gunshots, faces numerous charges; drama began during a fight over a parking spot with his neighbor.

An East Meadow man pointed a sawed-off shotgun and a long rifle at police Friday night, forcing officers to open fire on the 49-year-old, Nassau Police said.
Jason Wissel was not hit by the gunfire, but he suffered minor injuries during a struggle with police, who had responded to Stanley Road at about 8:48 p.m. after Wissel threatened his neighbor with a gun during an altercation over a parking spot, police said.
After the parking spot fight, police said Wissel had returned to his home at 358 Stanley Road as officers from the First Precinct, Emergency Service Unit, Canine Unit and Bureau of Special Operations unit responded and established a perimeter.

When officers attempted to make contact with Wissel, he exited the front door of his home armed with the shotgun and rifle, police said.
Wissel pointed the weapons at approaching officers, placing them in fear for their lives, police said.

The officers fired at the Wissel and disarmed him of his weapons, police said. Wissel was treated for minor injuries at Nassau University Medical Center and then released to the First Squad for completion of the arrest process, police said.
During a search of the Wissel’s home, several weapons and a cache of ammunition were found, police said.
Wissel is charged with two counts of second degree menacing and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.
