Sacramone's Arrives in East Meadow
The restaurant known for it's Astoria location opened it's doors on Dec. 26.
When Domenico and Anthony Sacramone decided to open a new business in Astoria 23 years ago, they knew that it was not only about the food, but the experience as well.
"Once people taste our food and taste our pizza, it’s an experience that’s few and far between," Domenico Sacramone said.
Domenico went to school to be a programmer, while Anthony was the AVP for a bank, but neither felt that their lives were meant for those positions ... and thus, was born.

"It's the perfect spot," Domenico Sacramone said. "We've been looking to expand for a while."
The opening process took a bit longer than expected, but that's because the Sacramones were waiting for permits to go through the Town of Hempstead. They added a new room, and the coal oven was built from scratch. The inside of the oven is made with lava bricks from Mount Vesuvius.
Sacramone says that he and his brother pride themselves on their quality of food. The tomato sauce is homemade, and the tomatoes are pureed in-house as well. Once a year, the Sacramones even go to a food show and taste an array of tomatoes imported from Italy. Once they find the one that fits their taste, they buy in bulk.
"We’re going to give people a product they haven’t tasted," Domenico Sacramone said. "I think people will support us."
Every dish is made to order. While the pizza and homemade pastas are the signatures of the restaurant, Sacramones also sports an array of salads, chicken, veal, ravioli and more. The pizza crust is homemade as well, and Sacramone's makes use of Virgin Olive Oil to spice it up.
The first few weeks have been exactly what the Sacramones hoped for. After integrating the computer system, they are now ready to settle in. Sacramone said he wants people to feel comfortable in the new establishment
"I want formal, good service, but I also want people to feel relaxed," he said. "Our waiters and bus boys will not be on your back constantly."
Sacramone's is open on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from noon until 11 p.m., and the restaurant is open from noon until midnight on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
