There’s a brand-new eatery in East Meadow, which opened on June 23.
Located in the strip of stores, at 347 Newbridge Road, stands at the site of the former — with a new banner, new menu options and new management.
The bakery’s new owner, Hedeline Benjamin, studied culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University and graduated in May 2011. She then began working for Felecia Rozansky, who had back in September of 2011.

“I was working with her since February,” Benjamin said. “She asked me if I wanted to take over and I said ‘yeah.’ I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
In addition to offering beverages like coffee, tea, chocolate milk, milk and juice, Benjamin has added more options to the bakery’s goods, including: Danishes, croissants, muffins, biscuits and biscotti.

Although the store is still transitioning and adjusting its signs with the Hunny B’s logo, the new owner said that she is “working on getting coupons for the cookies and cakes.”
She stated that the bakery will accept Felecia’s Cookies coupons until the end of July. Benjamin also plans to reward customers who ‘order any size cake’ with ‘a dozen cookies of any assortment’.
Natalie Bezout, who works with Benjamin, said that Hunny B’s will offer longer hours, opening 30 minutes earlier and closing 30 minutes later than Felecia’s did. The new store will even open Sundays upon request.
However, Hunny B’s will maintain some of Felecia’s traditions, such as serving holiday-decorated specials and continuing the store’s partnership with the charity “Serving Hungry and Homeless Long Islanders."
“This is a family based organization just like Felicia’s,” said Bezout. “And we still make donations. We’re still honoring certain things that Felecia did. We’re grateful that the community has welcomed us with open arms.”
In fact, Bezout said that, besides the food, it is the relationship with its customer base that is already making Hunny B‘s successful.
“We make our [baked goods] with love--no preservatives,” she said. “Four customers came in yesterday and said ‘it tastes home-baked, as if you made it from the heart’…We’re expecting honesty. If there’s something you don’t like, let us know and we’ll change it. We want to keep it community based.”
