The sale ends nearly 60 years of local control and raises questions about the mall’s future role in Chemung County’s shopping scene and Elmira-area jobs, tenants, and tax base.
   

• Parole violation sends Syracuse kidnap-rape convict Christopher Block back to prison (cnycentral.com) — A convicted kidnap-rape offender from Syracuse has been returned to state custody for violating parole and is currently being held at Elmira Correctional Facility. Officials say he failed a drug test shortly after a June release, and his Level 3 sex offender status and repeated parole violations keep him under close supervision that directly involves Elmira’s maximum-security prison.
   

• 31 Years of Glory: the LPGA Corning Classic (mytwintiers.com) — Elmira-area golf fans will see a regional favorite return as the LPGA Corning Classic is scheduled for May 27–30, 2027 at Corning Country Club. Announced from Elmira, the event’s comeback revives a long-running women’s pro golf tradition that once drew top players and big crowds from Elmira, Corning, and across the Twin Tiers.
