$50,000-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold on Long Island, Saturday's Jackpot Soars to $478M

One Long Islander was just one number away from claiming a $438 million jackpot on Wednesday.

A Powerball ticket for Wednesday's drawing worth a cool $50,000 was sold on Long Island, the New York Lottery announced Friday.

No one won the $438 million jackpot Wednesday, but three third-prize winning tickets (matching four of five numbers plus the Powerball) were sold in New York, including one at Jay Cards & Gifts at 712 Old Bethpage Road in Old Bethpage.

With no top prize winner from Wednesday’s drawing, the jackpot continues to roll and is now at $478 million for the Saturday, July 30 drawing.
