83-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Car

The man was hit while walking along Route 109 on Monday night.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY - An 83-year-old man died after he was struck by a car in East Farmingdale on Monday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Warren Prochaska, of North Babylon, was walking along eastbound Route 109, north of the Southern State Parkway, when he was hit by a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox at 6:30 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The driver of the car, 56-year-old Denise Thomas, of Deer Park, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.
