Self-serve frozen yogurt restaurants have been popping up all over. Tayeh says that's really not his competition, and that Treats offers a healthier alternative.

Tayeh says his yogurt comes in at 80 calories for a four ounce cup, and that other such places offer only lowfat or sugar-laden snacks. Yes, Treats offers candy for those with a sweet tooth, but really, it's the low or no-calorie smoothies that are featured.

Tayeh opened his first store 14 years ago, and has had locations at Walt Whitman Mall, Roosevelt Field, and MacArthur Airport. He's hoping for the ultimate treat: a long, prosperous run in the heart of Farmingdale.
