Albany Avenue School Staff Member Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The building was closed on Friday after the district learned of the positive test result. Anyone who was directly exposed was notified.

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, NY — Albany Avenue Elementary School was closed on Friday after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus, the Farmingdale School District learned Friday morning.

The district's contact tracing protocol was done, and the school's custodial team is disinfecting all affected areas on top of its regular regimen, superintendent Paul Defendini wrote in a letter. All families and staff members who were directly exposed have been notified and will begin the required quarantine.

The school is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday; Yom Kippur is on Monday, so schools will be closed regardless.
