• Finger-licking good: Long Island to host potato festival (forumdaily.com) — Farmingdale residents will host the new Long Island Potato Festival at Farmingdale State College on September 26–27, 2026, featuring free admission, tons of potato dishes, rides, and live music. Just steps from home, you'll also find a beer garden, farmers' market, local vendors, and kid-friendly agricultural exhibits celebrating the area's potato-farming roots.
• Kang Leads Hofstra During Day One Of The Doc Gimmler (gohofstra.com) — A collegiate golf tournament is underway right in Farmingdale at Bethpage Red, where Hofstra's Eugene Kang leads his team after two rounds of The Doc Gimmler. While Hofstra sits 14th overall, the event continues Sunday, giving local fans a chance to follow regional college players competing on their hometown course.
• Babylon's Whiskey Down Diner to open this September (newsday.com) — Whiskey Down Diner's original Farmingdale location is inspiring a larger sister spot opening soon in Babylon, with the same menu and twice the seating to ease those long Farmingdale waits. Locals can expect familiar oversized breakfasts, loaded burgers, and popular seasonal specials once the new kitchen and bar hit their stride later this month.
