Angela's Bra Boutique Opening In Farmingdale
"I was inspired by my own life to help other women," says owner Angela Cascio. Her store will offer personalized fittings.
FARMINGDALE, NY — Angela's Bra Boutique is set to open in Farmingdale on Friday. The shop is at 223 Main Street.
Angela Cascio's entrepreneurial story is similar to others who have started their own businesses: She experienced a problem and came up with a solution she hopes will help others.
“I’ve always been one of those people who had a difficult time finding bras for myself," Cascio told Patch.

Cascio lost her job as a director of admissions for a medical school university in September 2021 after holding it for 15 years. She realized she did not want to look for a new gig in the same field and aspired to be in business for herself.
"When I really sat and thought about what I wanted to do, what kind of business I could open, this is what I decided I wanted to do," she said. "I know there are other [bra stores] around. Not many. But I was excited to bring something women really need. I was inspired by my own life to help other women.”

Angela's Bra Boutique carries bras of different brands and sizes, loungewear, pajama sets, gym wear, athletic wear, cute socks, and blankets. Cascio said she would stock lingerie if customers request it.
Cascio promised personalized bra fittings where customers can talk with an employee about what they like and dislike in a bra. Clients will be measured and the boutique will find a bra that suits them. Cascio said this sets her shop apart from larger franchises.
"Bra sizing is very difficult," she said. "Sometimes, you cannot find bras in a big-box store, so people are also ordering online. Not that you can’t get a great bra online if you know your size and the brand you’re good with, then you can get a good bra online. So, it’s bringing this personalized attention to the customer. When I told people I was opening a bra boutique, there was a lot of excitement about it.”
When Cascio lost her job, she took time to reflect. She and her boyfriend, who are Farmingdale residents, would stroll Main Street. She noted a few vacant storefronts, including Vinoco, a tapas bar that closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Cascio worked with her "amazing" landlord to sign a lease in June, modified the store's interior, and is ready to open this weekend.
Cascio said she has a lot of nerves but is excited, too. She chose a "great staff" of women at a variety of ages to help her, she added.
"One day I’m excited, one day, I’m like, ‘Oh no!’" she said. "Just the other day, we were taking the paper down off my wall. It’s like, ‘OK, this is happening,’ and I took the paper off to do the little reveal. It’s very exciting.”
Cascio encouraged people to shop at a local, woman-owned business.
“We are so excited to be here in Farmingdale and service the community," she said.
