The New York State driving manual forbids people from parking, stopping or standing within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, unless there is a licensed driver staying in the car to move it in the event of an emergency.

EFFD told residents to not be like this driver. “We were fortunate enough to not have to use the hydrant, but should we had to, this illegally parked car would have delayed us having positive water to our engine and on the possible fire,” the Fire Department wrote on their Facebook page.
