There were two other cars trapped in the flood. They were both unoccupied.
Members from the department, led by Tortoso, as well as members from the Village Department of Public Works pulled the man and woman from the sunroof of the car.
The street was drained about an hour later.
In addition, in East Farmingdale, Route 110 north of Conklin Street was heavily flooded as well as both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 109, Tortoso said. However there were no trapped cars in those areas.
Tortoso said that the flooding was "horrible" all throughout the village.
